Bootcamp: Intro to the digital era and research methods
a. Challenges in the digital era
b. Digital media as a tool
c. Researching: digital social worlds, practices, events, relationships, experiences
MA DigiDCL offers a face-to-face Bootcamp, organized every year in one of the most welcoming and famous Greek destinations, combining jumpstart team building activities, cultural and natural discovery experiences with a co-creative program that engages all participants, faculty and guest speakers in teamwork, igniting conversations, exploring and reflecting on the digital-virtual landscape and its various transformations and challenges.
During the Bootcamp, participants will get a first deep dive into innovative research methodologies and a first hands-on experience in exploring and understanding our ever-evolving digital social worlds, practices, and relationships.
The academic goal of the bootcamp is twofold and is:
a) to bring students from different backgrounds up to speed on issues of digital transformation in order to prepare them for the first semester, and
b) to introduce students to innovative methods of design-thinking and co-creation, which are key to grasping digital transformation and turning it to one's advantage.
The sociological objective of the bootcamp is equally important, as it is designed as a crucial step towards team building among students and between students and their instructors. This is particularly important for a program that is essentially conducted at a distance.
Because of its importance, the Bootcamp is mandatory for all students. Students who miss the Bootcamp will be dropped from the MA DigiDCL unless they can prove a very serious and unforeseen impediment to their participation.
